Specialist programs
The Arts
We offer a strong and comprehensive Arts program featuring Visual Arts, Music, Dance, Drama and Media Arts.
Through The Arts, students develop their creative and expressive abilities, exploring perspectives of self and others while communicating ideas and emotions. Our program aims to nurture identity and belonging while fostering creative thinking, curiosity and sparking imagination.
Our program includes:
- Art club at break times working on student’s own projects
- School choir, with opportunities to perform in the Festival of Music
- Regular assembly sharing, performances and an end-of-year performance (every 2 years).
Health and Physical Education
Through the Health and Physical Education (HPE) program at our school, students identify and practice strategies to promote health, safety and wellbeing.
Opportunities are provided for all students to develop knowledge, understanding and skills to make life long active choices. Students continue to build upon team play and team building skills through our program.
External sporting coaches from a variety of sports, support the current program during PE lessons, which continue to build upon specialised skills.
All Reception to Year 5 students have the opportunity to attend swimming, at the Aquadome and Year 6 students at Aquatics.
Science
At Elizabeth South Primary School we think scientifically to empower us to notice, explore and understand our world, appreciating how systems are connected.
We engage with evidence, celebrating curiosity and creativity to contribute to a sustainable future.
Kitchen Garden
Our amazing kitchen garden space has been going strong for over 10 years.
Students use the produce from the garden and chickens to create delicious meals in cooking classes, developing lifelong practical skills, appreciation for seasonal fresh produce and a positive, confident and healthy relationship with food.
During the kitchen garden program students:
- plant seeds
- harvest garden beds
- weed
- discover insects
- understand plant life cycles
- learn and collaborate in groups
- work with and learn about safety with tools and kitchen equipment
- prepare and serve food

- wash their dishes and clean the kitchen
Wellbeing
Our work surrounding wellbeing is driven by the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM). The BSEM is a trauma-sensitive approach to teaching and learning that supports all learners to develop a strong understanding of their own bodies and how they respond to stress. The 5 components of the model are:
- Body
- Relationship
- Engagement
- Stamina
- Character
