Specialist programs
The Arts
We offer a strong and comprehensive Arts program that includes Visual Arts, Music, Dance, Drama and Media Arts.
Through The Arts, students develop their creative and expressive skills, exploring their own perspectives and those of others while communicating ideas and emotions. Our program aims to nurture identity and a sense of belonging, while fostering creative thinking, curiosity and sparking imagination.
Our program features:
- rt club during break times, where students work on their own projects
- School choir, with opportunities to perform at the Festival of Music
- Regular assembly performances and sharing and an end-of-year performance (every 2 years).
Health and Physical Education
Our HPE program helps students learn and practise strategies to stay healthy, safe, and well.
All students have the opportunity to develop knowledge, understanding, and skills to make active choices for life. They also continue to improve teamwork and team-building skills through the program.
External coaches from various sports support our PE lessons, helping students build specialised skills.
Every Reception to Year 5 student can attend swimming lessons at the Aquadome, and Year 6 students at Aquatics.
Science
At Elizabeth South Primary School, we think scientifically to notice, explore, and understand our world, recognising how systems are connected.
We engage with evidence, celebrating curiosity and creativity to help build a sustainable future.
Kitchen Garden
Our wonderful kitchen garden has been thriving for over 10 years.
Students use produce from the garden and eggs from our chickens to create delicious meals in cooking classes. This helps them develop practical skills, appreciate seasonal fresh food, and build a positive, confident and healthy relationship with food.
During the program, students:
- plant seeds
- harvest from the garden beds
- weed and care for the garden
- discover insects
- learn about plant life cycles
- work and learn together in groups
- use tools and kitchen equipment safely
- prepare and serve food
- eat healthy
- wash dishes and clean the kitchen.
Wellbeing
Our approach to wellbeing is guided by the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM). This trauma-sensitive approach to teaching and learning helps all students develop a strong understanding of their bodies and how they respond to stress.
The five components of the model are:
- Body
- Relationship
- Engagement
- Stamina
- Character
